The $5 Starter edition suits light use — a few calls each month. The $29 Business edition is the general-use plan with an inclusive pricing model.
Decide on a number
Keep your existing number and port it, add a public indial, or route your 1300 or 1800 number into the PBX as the public front door.
Connect handsets
SIP-capable handsets or softphones register against the PBX — no traditional phone line involved.

What is a hosted PBX?
A phone system hosted in the cloud instead of on equipment in your office: calls travel over your internet connection, and features like routing, voicemail and multiple extensions are handled by the platform.
How much does a hosted PBX cost?
The Starter edition is $5 a month for one user making and receiving a few calls, with untimed local and national calls at 10c and mobiles at 10c a minute. The Business edition is $29 a month for one or more users with untimed local, national and mobile calls. Prices exclude GST.
Can my 1300 or 1800 number feed a hosted PBX?
Yes — your inbound numbers route to answer points, and a PBX extension can be one of them. The 1300 or 1800 keeps its own plan and call behaviour; the PBX handles the answering.
Is hosted PBX the same as a 1300 number?
No. A 1300 number is the public contact point that routes calls in; a hosted PBX is the phone system that answers and makes calls. Businesses commonly use both — the number as the front door, the PBX behind it.

How it fits with your inbound numbers
Your 1300 or 1800 number and a hosted PBX solve different halves of the same job. The number is the public contact point: callers dial it, the shared-cost or toll-free rules apply, and the call routes to an answer point. The PBX is the answering side: extensions, handsets and outbound calling. Point the number's routing at a PBX extension and the two work as one system — which is why many businesses set them up together, or add the PBX as they grow past a single handset.
The honest prerequisites
- Good internet. Call quality follows connection quality; a hosted PBX on a poor link is a poor phone system. This is the one real prerequisite.
- SIP-capable handsets or softphones. The PBX speaks SIP; most modern desk phones and softphone apps do too.
- Number decisions. Keep your existing number and port it, add a public indial, or keep routing your 1300 or 1800 in as the front door — all are configuration, not construction.
