What Should Top Call Tracking Software Actually Do?

We will not publish a fake "top 10". Here is the capability checklist the genuine leaders share, how number-based tracking answers most Australian needs, and exactly what our platform does.

Call tracking software questions

What is the top call tracking software in Australia?

We will not claim a ranking — the right tool depends on whether you need per-campaign attribution or session-level detail. For campaign-level needs, number-based tracking from $5 a month covers the job; for keyword-level needs, evaluate tools that explicitly sell dynamic number insertion.

What features matter most in call tracking?

Source attribution you can trust, reporting that compares call volume by campaign over time, call recording for quality review, and pricing that scales with your number count.

What is the difference between number-based and dynamic tracking?

Number-based tracking gives each campaign or medium its own number, attributing calls to the source that displays it. Dynamic tracking swaps numbers per web visitor to attribute at keyword level — more granular, more complex, and priced accordingly.

How much does call tracking cost?

Our call tracking plans start at $5 a month with call data charged per minute as part of the plan, and numbers available from more than 40 regions. Current tiers are on the pricing page.

Search for the top call tracking software and you will find a dozen confident "top 10" lists — most of them arranged around whoever commissioned them. This page takes a more useful angle: the capabilities the genuine leaders share, an honest description of the two tracking models, and exactly what our platform does and does not do.

The checklist genuine call tracking shares

  1. Attribution that matches the claim. If a tool says it tells you which marketing generated a call, the mechanism should be clear — per-number or per-session — and the report should reconcile with reality.
  2. Comparable reporting over time. Call volume by campaign, by period, exportable. Attribution without trend data cannot steer budget.
  3. Call recording. The other half of the funnel: how the call was handled once marketing won it.
  4. Australian number coverage. Local recognition matters — numbers from 40+ regions let campaigns carry locally sensible digits.
  5. Honest pricing at scale. Tracking multiplies with campaigns; per-number pricing from $5 a month stays sane where per-seat or enterprise pricing does not.

The two models, stated plainly

Number-based tracking. Each campaign medium — website, radio, print, a specific landing page — is allocated its own number. Calls to each are counted and reported separately. Simple, cheap, robust, and sufficient for the question most businesses ask: which medium produces the calls? This is the model our call tracking platform runs, from $5 a month, with recording included and call data charged per minute.

Dynamic number insertion (DNI). The tool swaps numbers on your website per visitor, attributing calls back to the keyword or ad that brought them. More granular; also more moving parts, and typically priced like enterprise software. If keyword-level attribution is your requirement, evaluate vendors who sell that explicitly — do not buy a per-number product and expect it.

Neither model is "the top" universally. The top tool for a business running three campaign mediums is rarely the top tool for an e-commerce team optimising AdWords keywords.

What we will not claim

We will not claim session-level attribution, CRM integrations or offline conversion APIs that our platform does not document. The call tracking pillar describes the full workflow we support — per-campaign numbers, volume reporting, recording — and the pricing page lists the current tiers. If your needs fit that model, it is the most economical honest starting point in the market; if they do not, the checklist above will steer your evaluation elsewhere without wasting a month.

A five-minute evaluation path

  1. Write down the question you need answered: which medium, or which keyword?
  2. If it is "which medium" — price number-based tracking on your campaign count.
  3. If it is "which keyword" — shortlist DNI vendors and price them on your traffic.
  4. Trial whichever model with one live campaign before rolling out the roster.

When you are ready, pick tracking numbers from the available numbers pool and put the first campaign live.
