Call Tracking and AI: What the Label Does and Does Not Mean

We do not sell AI call tracking, and pages implying every platform has it help nobody. What AI actually does in this category — transcription, summaries, scoring — and what number-based tracking measures without it, stated plainly.

AI questions

Do you offer AI call tracking features?

No — no transcription, no conversation summaries, no AI scoring. Our call tracking measures calls per number with recordings where enabled; the analysis of what was said is a conversation-analytics capability we do not sell, and we would rather say so than borrow the label.

What does AI actually do in call tracking products?

The common uses are transcription of recorded calls, summarisation and classification of what was said, and lead scoring — all layers on top of recording, all requiring recording as a precondition. Evaluate any such claim against your own recorded volume, not the demo.

Can I measure marketing performance without AI?

Yes — that is what number-based tracking does: calls per campaign over time, durations, answered against missed. Most budget decisions need exactly that, and it needs no transcript to be trustworthy.

"AI" has become the least informative word in software marketing, and call tracking has caught the fever. This page will not claim AI features we do not have: our call tracking measures calls per number, with recordings where enabled — no transcription, no summaries, no scoring. What follows is the honest map of what AI does in this category, what it needs to work, and what budget measurement looks like without it.

What AI actually does in call tracking

Where AI appears in this category, it sits on top of recordings and does language work: transcribing calls to text, summarising and classifying what was said, scoring leads by conversation content, spotting missed opportunities in what the caller asked for. These are real capabilities with real value at volume — and they share two preconditions: recording must be enabled and lawful for the call, and the volume must justify the processing. An AI feature on twelve calls a week is a demo, not a tool.

What it needs before it matters

The layer beneath AI is unchanged: someone must call, the call must be attributed to its source, and it must be recorded. That substrate — the tracking number per campaign — is what number-based tracking provides, and it is where the measurement value lives for most businesses. AI reads the conversation; the tracking number already told you which medium produced it.

What measurement looks like without AI

The budget question — which medium earns its spend — needs calls per number over time, durations, and answered rates. No transcript required. That is what we run: number-based tracking from $5 a month per number, with call data billed per second, on Australian infrastructure. Its metrics are described in call tracking metrics software, and its boundary against the session-level platforms where AI layers live is in what call tracking software is.

Evaluating an AI claim, briefly

If you evaluate AI-featured platforms — the US session-level vendors, CallTrackingMetrics among them, are not us and we review none of them — apply three checks: is recording included or billed separately; what accuracy guarantees exist for transcription in Australian accents and industries; and does the insight produced change any decision you actually make. The same evaluation framework we use for every category claim is in comparing call tracking competitors. Our own scope, stated once more: measurement without the label — rates on the pricing page.
